Parents are a key influence on their children’s drug use; as a role model, as a source of information, advice and support in crisis. This section of our project pages is devoted to three actions that parents can take. 1. Seek More information This page presents several key web sites and selected readings for individual parents. 2. Talk with Your Child or Teen This page has collected the advice, tips and strategies that parents can use to develop ongoing communications with their children as well as use brief opportunities and openings to talk with their child about drugs. 3. Get Help if Your Child is Abusing Substances or If You Are Don’t let fear, doubt, shame, stigma or confusion prevent you and your family getting help for your troubled child, your spouse/partner or yourself.
